Community Growth and Outreach
Sebastian brings his operations engineering experience along with his love and knowledge of soccer to our organization.
Sebastian started his career as a Process Improvement Engineering at SpaceX where he led multiple successful initiatives that improved throughput in their Supply Chain Operations. The successful completion of his work resulted in his Lean Sig Sigma Certification.
Today, Sebastian continues his work in the aerospace industry where he leads implementation efforts of the latest technologies into fast paced, production environments.
"Augmented reality is going to change everything. I see my role as an opportunity to demystify technology. When technology blends into the background, it becomes easier for people to adopt these tools. Intuitively, technicians begin to see these tools as enablers towards a more productive and fulfilling work life. In the end, this leads to better quality for the final product." - Sebastian Tobacia
Sebastian has extensive experience in dealing with the details of operations. From organizing projects and analysis of relevant data, Sebastian implements improvements that help people and projects find solutions and move forward stronger.
In addition to his strong work experience, Sebastian also serves as the lead of Space United’s Community Outreach efforts, which has connected with over 7,000 students across the world bringing STEM & Sports resources to underrepresented communities.
While completing his B.S. in Engineering at Texas A&M University, Sebastian was also the President of the professional Colombian Student Association and organized successful large scale soccer events. Their “world cup” tournament, which 400 students and 16 international student associations attended, was an unforgettable event and a testament to the unique power of soccer to bring cultures and communities together.
In Sebastian’s free time, he also plays Soccer for Space United FC, volunteers with Space United’s community outreach program and spends quality time exploring science and nature @lifehikes.
