Seattle, WA (May 25, 2021) - NISA announces Space United FC to join the Pacific Region in 2021’s edition of the NISA Independent Cup.

The National Independent Soccer Association announces the return of the NISA Independent Cup for July and August with 36 clubs playing in nine regions across the country. The Independent Cup, introduced last year as a regionalized competition, provides independent professional and amateur clubs a platform to play together on a national stage. The tournament kickoff date is July 9.

Space United Football Club, a soccer club founded by space engineers from SpaceX and Blue Origin, is bringing their mission of uniting space & soccer to inspire underrepresented youth in STEM to the national platform and it’s excited to play their home games in the greater Seattle area.

#SUFC joins the pacific region and will announce further details including schedule and match streaming in the coming days.

Aside from playing soccer in two divisions in both Los Angeles and Seattle, Space United’s engineer athletes also volunteer with underrepresented communities around the world to inspire careers and diversity in STEM. Their community outreach program, Goal for Launch, has reached more than 7,000 students around the world, and they have especially doubled their efforts during the pandemic to help ease the hardships of remote learning.

“We are excited to elevate our mission and compete in such a great tournament that ultimately is improving and growing soccer in the United States”, says Space United FC Founder & CEO, Camilo Tobacia.
